Live camera input - no capture drivers...?

Post by silva »

Hello all,

just started using resolume, and most thing seem very clear, or at least very "learnable" ;)
Now, one thing I cant get to work, is the live camera input.
I want to use my samsung digimax 360.
Resolume tells me there are no "capture drivers" found....

Anyone knows what I must do? :(

Thnx in advance!

What kind of camera do you have.
Is it connected ;)
Does it work in other applications?

Make sure your camera is connected before you start resolume. Any camera's connected after startup won't be available.

Cheers
Edwin

Edwin,
camera is Samsung Digimax 360
http://www.samsungcamera.com/product/pr ... cat_uid=11

If it works in other applications..I don't know, what kind of applications..? :) I can do the normal things, so take photo's and films off my cam onto my PC. But further....?

Do I need to install any driver or something?

Thnx!

you cant use a still digital camera with resolume, it has to be a video camera, because still cameras normaly dont output a live feed through USB

Sony DCR-HC17
Would this one do the trick?
Any experience in filming in clubs etc...? Would this cam be suitable...Also for home use, and no further budget...;)

Hello!
My first post :)
This camera should do the trick, just one thing:
it always has to be hooked properly to your computer and has to be turned on, when you start Resolume. Otherwise, Resolume does all kind of weird things to your camerastream, like flipping it upside down and interlace the picture.. And, don't run your camera in battery mode, otherwise, when the batteries go down, resolume will slow down and might even freeze. Not nice when youre in the middle of the party doing your VJ-Magic.
I just found out that it's easier to connect the camera to a tv-capture card (if you have one) that to connect it via firewire, because if its connected to a tv-card, you can turn your camera on and off without problems, as long as the tv-card stays active.

OK, enjoy your live video!
bye

Guys, 2 questions:
1 yesterday I bought the camera, tonight wanna test it with resolume...
I've found a Page with sony-drivers for this camera...look:
http://www.sonydigital-link.com/DIME/do ... &t=d&s=mdv
Now, if I'm right, I should download the "streaming USB driver"....right?

2 No TV-card yet...so using the cam USB. I already learned that the camera have to be connected and ON, when starting resolume...But is it possible, when running, to disconnect the camera, and record some stuff, and then re-connect to resolume...? I'd like to make some shots in the room also...:)

Thnx in advance...!

Your camera should have a firewire DV-out, use that.

As for 'roaming', you could do it with a previous version of res (by carefully unmounting all references to the stream from resolume's decks/layers first), however this trick don't work in 2.3 anymore - if you disconnect the cam then reconnect resolume never picks the stream up again, just a black screen.
