Full Dome in Resolume?

Post by mrwhisk »

Hello Community,

I am currently midway through my master's dissertation, for which I am putting together a performance in a full dome planetarium. The dome uses a single (super wide angle) projector to fill the hemispherical screen.

My question is: How able is arena at mapping to such a surface? I understand that using rectangle content (non-fisheye) will always have it's issues in such a scenario, however my project is a prototype and I don't have fisheye footage.

If arena hasn't got the functionality to do it, might someone suggest other options / apps to feed resolume into?

Thanks in advance,

Your answer and advice will be most appreciated :)

United VJs just have released Blendy VJ - a full dome application.

Thanks for the reply Paulo,

Blendy dome looks epic ... but I'm running windows. Any more alternatives?

With a single output dome system as mentioned above I think Resolume is perfectly suitable.
It's all about the content!

Couldn't agree more about content :)

It's a mythological journey into the heart of physics, through the belly of the whale...

How would you set up Resolume for a fulldome output then?

Thanks community!

Speak to the technician in charge of the dome.
Hopefully it is a system with a single DVI/VGA input.
They should be able to supply you with the required warping profile.
