Join monitor with projector

Post by fede1749 »

Hello!

My name is Federico, I'm from Uruguay and I'm taking my first steps with Resolume.

I have a project in which i want to unify the content visible on my monitor and a projector.
For example, I want my content starts to look at the monitor and the end of this content into the spotlight.
That note Studying tools like dualhead2go get what I want, but I wanted to know if I could do it without using it.
Instead of having two monitors, I have a monitor and projector connected to a mac mini.
My monitor would display 1, and the projector screen 2.

I do not want to see my picture is repeated on both screens, but the image is extended to my monitor and projector, which occupy both screens.
I could only make the image repeated on my two screens.

Thank you!

Hi. You can only achieve that with practical three outputs:
1. Output 1: Your interface (Resolume Software) monitor 1;
2. Output 2: Monitor 2
3. Output 3: Projector

Yes, a Dual Head would work beautifully.
There´s no way you can use one simple output conectior to display different content on two different displays.
It is not an Arena limitation. Arena actually can do that using slices. It is a physical hardware limitaton.

Hi Paulo, thanks for answering my question.
Then you think to use a module as Dual Head allow me do?

I did not understand the following:

There's no way you can use one sample output connector to display different content on two different displays.
It is not an Arena limitation. Arena actually can do that using slices. It is a physical hardware limitaton.

Does that mean I could not see my extended content in 2 different outputs?

Instead of having 3 outputs, you could have output 1 with the interface (Resolume Software) and in turn the content, and output 2 projector ?.

Or if or if I should have an output only interface?

Thank you.

Yes.

With just one output (besides your interface), sure you can, but not extended to two other monitors or projectors. Just mirrowed.

Your are making the same question over and over.
Don´t get confused:
- You will ever use the first computer video output to the Arena User Interface. You don´t even need to care about this. You need to care the amout of video outputs available for your content.
- 01 video output for content > Just one output device! You can mirror the same content to other devices by using a video splitter or distributor;
- 01 video output w/ matrox dual head for content > You can expand your video content up to two different devices, meaning that after some setup you can see different images on each device.

Understood? : )
Cheers!!!

Just to be completely clear, it's totally possible to use the main monitor as an output. Simply select it as a screen in the advanced output.

Of course it would cover the Res interface, so you won't be able to click anything with the mouse. You would need to run your show with keyboard and midi inputs.

Whether or not that's practical is up to you, but it's totally possible.
