Replacing clips while keeping transform settings

Post by benmansfield »

Hi all,

I am using a black magic decklink 4k to capture 6 cameras via a single SDI in. From there, I am using crop's on different clips to scale in on each camera. While i'm programming I want to use a test card so I can see which camera I am controlling, however, I want to keep the adjustments in the transform window for when I change the source back to the capture device.
How do I do this!?

Thanks
Ben

I'm sure there are many other ways but I would use 3 layers technique:
  • L3: Layer Router of layers below
L2: Cameras Sources set at opacity 100%
L1: Test cards in PNG set at opacity 100%
Then you apply the crops to the router and by turning the opacity of L2 (or of the camera clip) to 0, you will see the test card through the router.

You can just drag the testcard or input over the video track area to replace the file.

replace.gif (373.01 KiB) Viewed 4520 times
This will replace the contents of the clip, while all changes to scale, position and all effects will be retained.
