Is it possible to connect the ReACT MIDI Controler to a USB port on my laptop?

Or how can i connect it to my laptop?

react as it will be shipped is a pure midi controller. But the usb addon is in development.
It has 2 nice features:
3 port hub - you can connect mouse, keyboard and/or a led lamp to the controller
2 port midi in/out - the two MIDI connectors on ReAct, will become an additional MIDI interface - while React itself is connected to the other midi port of the usb-midi-hub
If the usb hub will be usb 1.1.

But still how do you connect it too a laptop? If usb isn't the standard? And will the add-on be ready when the first shipping date from the pre-order form goes out?

Because i pre orderd it but i really like the add on usb connection right away in the package

ok, you would need a usb-midi cable (e.g. M-Audio USB Uno). But we are working with high preassure on the USB interface addon, to make them available at the same time.

And is the USB-addon already shiping? I can't see that add-on in the shop. I also have an laptop without some Midi interface. Why isn't it standard on the controller?

Hey Dinky,
You are going to need a USB to midi device.
USB on midi controlers is still fairly new to the midi world. there are several boxes that exist to make the conversion from pc to non-usb midi controlers:

While I think a good argument could be made that a midi controller geared PRIMARILY to a PC based VJ application like resolume SHOULD HAVE TO ship with usb as a standard feature, this is the first midi hardware of it's kind.
(for pc's anyway since the edirol/motion dive controler looks mostly useless and the livid controller is for mac:

A little flexability should be given to the company bulding the hardware.

so think of it as getting the controller before they are finished with it... not having to wait for the usb feature to be completed and still be able to use the controller.

As long as they keep the price low on the usb add-on I will be satisified. I don't want them making money on the add on.. I DO want them to make money on the controller.
If you don't have a midi-to-usb device already, than don't order the unit till it ships with a usb add-on option. It will not do you any good and you will have to waste money buying one of the above midi-to-usb devices, if you plan on purchasing the usb add-on when it becomes available.

I allready have an X-Session from Evolution. I could put that controller in the background as some USB <--> MIDI hub. I think that the X-Session will be useless when i give me an ReAct controller

ok, here's a potentially dumb question:

I'm currently using a bcr2000 as my controller which connects via usb and has midi in on it.
So
Could I plug the react into that rather than buy a usb add on?
Any potential harware conflict etc?
