Arena - bad alpha

Post by GuruMeditation »

Hi,
I tried Arena version of resolume. I noticed a problem with my DXV loops. When I activate alpha on the clip, video goes darker and I lose a lot of details on the footage !
Tried with the 2 alpha mode : same result.
My clips are encoded thru AE with DXV, Alpha preserved.
Don"t have the problem with Avenue 4.xx with the same clip !

Are you using actual video footage that's shot with a camera or have you created animations?

Can you explain what you mean by 'When I activate alpha on the clip,'? If you're changing to the alpha blend mode, you will need to fade the layer up to have the same brightness as on the add blend mode.

So are you turning that button on or off?

When it's lit (the default state for a clip with alpha), that means you have alpha enabled. When you click it, you turn the alpha off.

Maybe you could send some screenshots of both states, with the rest of the interface visible as well?

See attachement :
firts pic is Avenue, the other is Arena
Same composition settings, same clip (DXV with alpha, 1280*1024)
No problem with Avenue.
Shitty image with Arena.
I tought it was a problem due to the videomapping module of arena, but even with the basics settings the problem occurs.

Hmm. Thanks for the clear pictures! What happens when you delete the mask on the layer? Can you send us the clip?

Was there a solution? I might have the same problem
I have 1 layer where I put animated Masks on top of another layer. They are all just moving black animations with transparent alpha shapes. When I put the 'mask' layer on full opacity, the underlaying layer becomes darker. I tried all blending modes and also with still PNG images the same happens. I can not clearly see it on my preview screen but it is very clear on the projected output. When I leave the opacity slider of the mask layer on 90% the underlaying layer stays with its original brightness.
