if you want to plug it directly to projector you can go for gopro via hdmi conection.

What is your max budget?
What features you need?
GoPro has fixed lenses.
If you need variable focal depth and budget HD , check out Craiglist in your area for HD cams. They usually have outputs compatible with majority of projectors.
