Freebie: Multiline Flash Text with Formatting

Post by craftycurate »

Hi fellow Resolume Flashers ...

I saw someone was looking for this on another thread, and I was thinking of posting it anyway, so here it is.

A simple multiline Flash Text SWF I made for use with Resolume. It has a range of text formatting parameters (font size, Y position, leading, L & R margins, alignment (left, centre, right, justify), and white\black text toggle). Uses a clean sans-serif font.

Use a # character to force line breaks. The SWF will convert these to newline characters before displaying.Obviously you can't paste multiline text into Resolume as Resolume will only pass a single line at a time to the SWF.

It's 640x360 which will scale up to 1920x1080 or any other 16:9 size perfectly. Make sure you set the size of the clip to your composition size for maximum smoothness.

Text has a slight drop shadow so you don't need to worry too much about it disappearing.

Offered for your use without any warranty or guarantee, but I hope you find it useful.

I'm not a seasoned Flash coder so if anyone spots any possible improvements let me know.

Cheers
Richard

Pretty good Richard, I will try it right now.
Just a tip, what about using another character to break lines?
(so you can type and show a hashtag on screen).

Hi craftycurate,
for me this flash file doesn't work...hmm...when I drag'n'drop it into a clipdeck the field stays blank.

Win 7 / R.4.2.1

Ok here's one that uses the tilde (~) char as the newline delimiter.

Not in the current version. Loading text from an external source would definitely be useful. I might give it a go at some point but it won't be any time soon. If I do, I'll post it here :)
